L&S: John's "Royal Spin Commission"

Our representative historian, John Majewski, has roped each of the student discussion groups into pretending that they constitute a "Royal Spin Commission," assigned with countering the arguments made in Thomas Paine's revolutionary writings. The students have tackled the job with relish. John steps in after each student group's presentation to point out how their arguments in fact reflect arguments made at the time. It's proven both effective and great fun.

Indeed. It was a nice piece of pedagogy and the student presenters both ate up the role and made very good arguments. It's always great to ask students to take on a persona and make arguments that they themselves might not agree with.
