As You Sow, So Shall You Reap

The only people I think should be prosecuted for victimless crimes are people who have prosecuted others for those crimes. Eliot Spitzer qualifies.

In 1992, he launched a successful investigation that brought down the Gambino family's control over Manhattan's garment and trucking industry.

As attorney general, Spitzer took cases relating to corporate white collar crime, securities fraud, internet fraud and environmental protection. He most notably pursued cases against companies involved in computer chip price fixing, investment bank stock price inflation, the 2003 mutual fund scandal. He also sued Richard Grasso, the then-chairman of the New York Stock Exchange, who he claimed had violated his position after receiving an upwards of $140 million as a deferred compensation pay package. - Wikipedia

Yes, he should be destroyed because he paid a prostitute for sex, and was a hypocrite about it.

Did Spitzer let any of his targets off the hook because of their other accomplishments in life? I doubt it.

The nation's biggest brokerage firms have agreed to pay almost $1 billion in fines to end investigations into whether they issued misleading stock recommendations and handed out hot new shares to curry favor with corporate clients, people involved in the negotiations said yesterday.

The firms have also agreed to sweeping changes in the way research is done on Wall Street and the way new stocks are distributed, moving away from the practices they used during the stock boom of the 1990's.

I hope his little mistake doesn't lead to his downfall. He did a lot of good trying to clean up the scum on Wall St. I'd vote for him again.
