Anti-American But Still Funny

My sister sent me the link for this article:
Berlin - German police have their hands full - pranksters in Berlin have been sticking miniature American flags into piles of dog poop in public parks.

The series of incidents was originally thought to be in protest against the United States-led invasion of Iraq.

But then it continued through US President George Bush's re-election.

Police say they are completely baffled by these events, which have been going on for a year.

"We have sent out extra patrols to try to catch whoever is doing this in the act," said police spokesperson Reiner Kuechler.

"But frankly, we don't know what we would do if we caught them red-handed."

Josef Oettl, parks administrator for Bayreuth, said: "This has been going on for about a year now, and there must be 2 000 to 3 000 piles of excrement that have been claimed during that time."

Legal experts say there is no law against using faeces as a flag stand and the federal constitution is vague on the issue.
It's quite a clever protest, though I do have to wonder about the opportunity cost of the perpetrator's (or perpetrators') time.

People who don't clean up after their dogs are pigs! It surprises me that the German police don't go after the source of the shit.

After what the Nazis did to Jews, the Russians and the rest of the world, the Germans are lucky to still exist as a nation and a people. Morally, Germany should have been turned into a Jewish homeland and all the remaining Germans sent to Auschwitz. Is 60 years after the fact too late to exact revenge?

My comment will be rather unusual, in that I'll respond to the rhetorical question about the opportunity cost of the perpetrator's or perpetrators' time. (The previous comments remind me why I don't enable comments at my blog.) Anyway, it's obvious that the opportunity cost is quite low. You might even say that the perpetrator's or perpetrators' time ain't worth crap.

Hehehe. You commenters are all so funny, b/c I assume you're all joking. Especially ending it with whatever it means in German. I'm thinking of it with humor in the likes of Conan O'Brien when he gets out of control with his German, or that crazy south park episode when Cartman tries to rid the town of Jews yelling his silly German phrases.
