Maybe that's true for some people. But if I hold my hand up to my ear, I can't see my hand, which indicates that my peripheral vision doesn't go back that far.Glen Whitmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01425907466575991113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3829599.post-62722608512608368652007-08-05T21:15:00.000-07:002007-08-05T21:15:00.000-07:00All good points, which is why I think a lot of peo...All good points, which is why I think a lot of people go around looking like tools, with their blue-tooths on their ears at all times (in addition to wanting to seem important). If I remember to bring my hands-free gear, I usually just go ahead and hook it up, so I can easily answer calls and avoid having to get it all set up once I'm driving. But this is something you didn't mention about non-hands-free, which may be because it doesn't happen to you/you've never noticed: holding the phone up to your ear limits your peripheral vision as well as the ability to check things out by actually turning to look at them. At least that's the case with me, and I recognize this. I don't know about a *law* for hands-free use but there are certainly some good reasons for it. Okay, back to studying. Notice how my one comment in the past few months, probably years, occurs the night before an exam...
EllenAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3829599.post-3483353754052825102007-08-04T03:43:00.000-07:002007-08-04T03:43:00.000-07:00The law will not going to change anything, it'll g...The law will not going to change anything, it'll give more trouble to the peoples. But I'm curious. If you don't think cell phones should be banned in the car, should we still outlaw drinking and driving? I mean, the act of talking on a cell phone while driving is distracting and thus dangerous - whether it is as dangerous or less or more than driving drunk is irrelevant.

Also, I think the reason we've made these laws is because cell phone use (like alcohol) is something that can be regulated much more easily than talking in the car, listening to music in the car, etc. As for eating while driving, I have to say, I'd bet we'll see laws banning drive-thrus in the next twenty years.Emily Tannerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14494750646207669078noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3829599.post-13907409284187785842007-07-30T15:17:00.000-07:002007-07-30T15:17:00.000-07:00Now, do you really need to talk on the phone while...Now, do you really need to talk on the phone while driving?

I'd like to get a blowjob or play miniature golf while driving, is that okay with you? Alternatively, I'd like to carry my Big Bertha driver with me in the front seat to beat inattentive drivers over the head.

Unfortunately, that might be against the law, too.

Admittedly, I sometimes eat while driving while driving which also is dangerous.
