On the other hand, I suspect fewer children are mowing lawns these days, because parents are more inclined to hire someone.Glen Whitmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01425907466575991113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3829599.post-1155882248867509112006-08-17T23:24:00.000-07:002006-08-17T23:24:00.000-07:00Another thought: Not only did the population size...Another thought: Not only did the population size change, but the total hours of operation for lawn mowers probably did as well. At least here in Texas, average lawn sizes seem to be increasing in the suburbs. Household sizes are shrinking, so the number of lawns mown has probably increased more than the population. More children are being exposed to even more lawnmowers for longer periods of time.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3829599.post-1155882030482585052006-08-17T23:20:00.000-07:002006-08-17T23:20:00.000-07:00I wonder why they analyzed such a large group of "...I wonder why they analyzed such a large group of "children". I think the age range was 0 to 20 years of age. That would include the many thousands of young Mexican immigrants doing much of the commercial lawn work in the U.S. Southwest.

An analysis of lawn mower safety should divide the population into two groups: lawn mower operators and non-operators. Young children are suffering lacerations and burns from power mowers: 48% of of the injured were under 13 years of age. That speaks more to parental neglect than to lawn mower design.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3829599.post-1155584024634127872006-08-14T12:33:00.000-07:002006-08-14T12:33:00.000-07:00You are deviating from plan!Step 1: Hype non-exist...You are deviating from plan!

Step 1: Hype non-existent or miniscule problem.
Step 2: Present fabricated or inconclusive "statistics"
Step 3: Purchase stock in company selling "solutions" or campaign for public office on your platform of "protecting the children."
Step 4: Profit!

If you disrupt this necessary cycle with your picayune attention to facts and details, however will snake oil salesmen and politicians prosper?Calibanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00211122145450234526noreply@blogger.com
